The 31st book is called Corduroy written and illustrated by Don Freeman.
Corduroy is a small teddy bear waiting to meet his new best friend. Night after night, he sits on the shelf in the store. One day, a girl named Lisa spots Corduroy and asks her mother for him. Her mother points out he is missing a button. Lisa and her mom go home. Corduroy decides that he will venture out to the store at night to look for his missing button. With no luck, Corduroy is disappointed and goes back to his shelf. Lisa shows up, buys Corduroy, takes him home, and fixes his missing button. Corduroy is then complete in life with his new button and new friend.
