The 29th book is called The Empty Pot written and illustrated by Demi.
There was once a boy named Ping who lived in China and loved Flowers. He had a green thumb and could get anything to grow. At the same time, there was an Emperor who loved flowers too. He had no children and needed to choose who would take over for him. So, he gave a flower seed to every child in his kingdom. He told the children whoever could do their best would rule the kingdom.
Ping tries his best, and yet nothing ever grows. Yet all the other children are successful. Ping shows up with an empty pot, shows the Emperor, and tells him he tried his best. The Emperor then tells everyone that the seeds should not have grown. Ping was the only one to try his best even when things didn't go his way. Ping gets to become the Emperor next.
