The story revolves around Snappsy, an alligator, who is minding his own business when he suddenly finds himself the star of a book. The book's narrator follows Snappsy around and describes his every move, making him feel like he's being watched. Snappsy is unhappy about this and tries to tell the narrator to leave him alone. As the story continues, Snappsy becomes frustrated with the narrator's constant intrusion into his life. Eventually, the narrator reveals that he is a chicken trying to write a book and needs Snappsy to be the star. Ultimately, the two become friends and work together to create a book they are both happy with.
